The
SC conference has a long history of offering excellent programs for K-undergraduate
school educators to meet with leading scientists, engineers, and technologists
to learn about the latest in high performance computing and communications
technologies, and to explore opportunities for applying these technologies
into classroom activities.
Each
year, thousands of the worlds most prominent scientific computing
researchers come together to discuss and share their latest work. And
each year, hundreds of undergraduate and K-12 educators participate
in the conference through their own Education Program, and by attending
the exhibits, plenary sessions, and special sessions offered to all
conference attendees. Furthermore, the SC conference Education Program
continues throughout the year through regional workshops and additional
activities to keep educators current with new developments in the use
of computing techniques in the classroom.
The SC2002 conference, which will be held in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, on November 16-22, 2002, welcomes you to attend and benefit from all that the conference has to offer to you, your colleagues, and your students. Travel and housing support will be provided to accepted applicants, pending funding.
SC2002 Education Program Participants
The SC 2002 Education Program welcomes teams of undergraduate faculty
as well as teams of undergraduate faculty and K-12 teachers to work on
the integration of modeling and visualization tools, resources, and techniques
into their classroom activities. The SC2002 Education Program encourages
the participation of under-represented faculty and teachers, including
faculty from two and four-year colleges, primarily undergraduate institutions,
and minority serving institutions. Computational scientists, educators,
and technologists will work with these teams to aid them in identifying
appropriate tools to apply to their curriculum in support of collaborative
learning opportunities for their students. The Education Program portion
of the SC2002 conference runs from Saturday, November 16 through Tuesday,
November 19, although participants are welcome to stay the remainder
of the week to participate in the full range of conference offerings.
Researchers are also encouraged to research Cellphone
Rates before attending
the conference. Rates can be very hig in this region.
